Welcome to Why on Wednesday in which The eLFonian looks at the hard questions floating around in Cyberspace occupying the pages, and minds, of many a Cyberian. Published each Wednesday, and wholly at the mercy of a continuing proliferation of such questions, The eLFonian analyses these questions in an attempt to find solutions that will return Cyberia to a state of equilibrium.
This week, The eLFonian looks at the perplexing question:
Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke?
After pondering this question over a cup of tea and researching some possibilities as to why this phenomenon is occurring, seven likely reasons were revealed through the tea leaves and which were accompanied by a blinding flash of light.
Because …
- All three food items look good together on the table (a selfie moment)
- I like the taste of this food combination
- The taste of the diet coke makes the double cheeseburger palatable
- The double cheeseburger stops the bubbles from the diet coke tickling my nose
- I can use the fries to build a tower on the cheeseburger
- It’s a balanced diet – the acid in the diet coke eats away the fat of the burger and chips
- I like the long burp at the end of this meal
Have your say! What do you think? Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke? Your feedback is important and could help Cyberians everywhere so please take a minute to respond to the poll below. Pick your preferred response (one only per reader).
Poll Closing Date: This poll will close at 12:00 UTC (GMT/Zulu) on the Tuesday following publication of Why on Wednesday so be quick and don’t miss out on your opportunity to vote. The results will be published in the next issue of Why on Wednesday and will also be updated in this post after the poll is closed so come back, review the results and leave a comment if you are so inclined.
The Next Why: Next week, The eLFonian will be tackling a question that touches us all.
If you have a question that has been baffling you for a while or has been keeping you up at night, that has you feeling nauseous or simply leaving you curiously contemplating matters you have never before considered, why not ask The eLFonian. Email your question to elfy@elfonian.com. There are currently a number of questions playing on The eLFonian’s mind so there may be a delay in addressing your particular question – unless of course, your question “tickles the borders of Cyberspace” (part of The eLFonian mission) in which case, up the queue you go!
Collaborators Wanted! If you want to collaborate and be part of the research team that will investigate other perplexing questions, please email your interest to The eLFonian (elfy@elfonian.com). You will be notified of your acceptance to the research team by return email. The rules of engagement for collaborators are simple and will be contained in the acceptance email. If accepted to the team, your contribution will be acknowledged in subsequent issues of Why on Wednesday.
I couldn’t find my answer in the poll, so I am voting with a sarcastic answer 😀

… by the way, your answer is stored away in the poll anonymously. All you see is the overall result. It’s an eLFonian thing. 🙂
